Camera drones and drones above a certain weight require registration with the relevant Thai authorities (NBTC/CAAT) before flying. Renting one doesn't exempt you from this requirement — the pilot, not the rental shop, is responsible for an unregistered flight.

Ask the rental shop whether the specific drone is registered and what you need to carry in case of a check.

No-fly zones include a radius around airports (including Phuket airport), government buildings, and a number of temples and beaches during special events. Check current restricted zones in advance through the CAAT app or website — not after your drone has already been confiscated.

Same as with cars: film the equipment's condition at pickup — scratches on the body, propeller condition, camera lens state. That's the only real protection against a damage dispute at return.
