Best Districts in Phuket: for Families, Surfing and Nightlife
Rawai — for families and a quiet stay
The southern tip of the island, away from Patong's tourist bustle. Shallower, calmer beaches, plenty of local food cafes, and Racha Island for diving nearby. A good choice for families with kids and anyone staying a month or longer.
Bang Tao — premium villas and golf
One of the most expensive districts on the island: a long beach, a golf course, high-end restaurants. This is where the premium pool villas are concentrated — if the budget allows, it's one of the best options on the island.
Patong — for nightlife
The busiest district: bars, clubs, markets, all within walking distance. Good for anyone after active nightlife, but not the best choice for a quiet stay with kids — it's loud and crowded even at night.
Kata and Karon — the middle ground
A compromise between Rawai's calm and Patong's energy: good beaches, reasonable prices, both restaurants and nightlife without the overload. A popular choice for first-time visitors to Phuket who aren't sure what they prefer yet.
