Overnight Yacht Charter in Phuket: Prices, Cabins and What Is Included

Quick answer: the cheapest overnight stay in the catalog is 70,000 THB for 2 days and 1 night (Hanse 43 sailing yacht, June to October, priced for 1-4 guests with breakfast, lunch and dinner), or 90,000 THB from November to May. A group of 6-8 usually pays 100,000-160,000 THB for the boat, roughly 11,000-25,000 THB per person depending on the boat and season. Far fewer people sleep aboard than a boat carries by day: usually 6 guests in three cabins and 8 in four. For 12 guests there is Siam Princess 70 from 150,000 THB with full board, for 22 the Vanora 170 superyacht at 650,000 THB for 24 hours. Before paying, check whether dinner and breakfast are included, how long the charter runs (24 hours, 2 days and 1 night or 32 hours) and whether a long route adds a fuel surcharge.

What an overnight charter looks like

A night on the water is more than a long day trip. You watch the sunset at an island, have dinner on deck, sleep in a cabin and swim in the morning before the day boats arrive. In our yacht rental section dozens of boats offer an overnight stay, from a sailing yacht for four to a superyacht for 22 guests. Every price below is for the whole boat with crew, not per person.

The catalog uses three formats. The most common is "2 days and 1 night": you leave on day one, anchor overnight and come back on day two. That is how the sailing yachts Classic 86 and Nautitech 40, the catamarans Lagoon 45 and Bali 40 and the cruiser Siam Princess 70 are priced. The second format is 24 hours, used by the catamarans Yati, Buli, Zim, Gani and Mufasa. The charter ends the next day at about the hour it started, so the second day is short. Turning the last day into a full one costs 30,000 THB extra on Yati, Buli and Zim, 32,200 THB on Mufasa and 80,000 THB on Gani.

The third format is 32 hours, listed for Princess 60, Westport 130 and Heysea 139. Longer cruises exist too: Siam Princess 70 and Camara C 105 go out for up to 7 days and 6 nights, while Sunreef Eco 60, Spacecat 118 and Heesen 129 are rented by the week only. Check the start and finish time for each boat. The 2016 Leopard 51, for example, boards at 11:00 on the first day and finishes at 17:00 on the last.

How many guests can sleep aboard

This is the main trap: a boat takes far more people for the day than it can put to bed. Overnight capacity depends on cabins, usually two people per cabin. The Yati catamaran carries up to 25 guests for a day but sleeps 6. Siam Princess 70 takes 50 for a day and 12 overnight. Vanora 170 takes 80 for a day and 22 overnight. The classic Grand Banks 53 Sambuca takes 20 for a day and sleeps only 4.

The second detail: the overnight price sometimes covers fewer guests than the cabins hold. Hanse 43 has three cabins, yet its overnight rate is for 1-4 guests. Bali 40 sleeps up to 8 in four cabins, but the rate is for 1-6. Mufasa's registration allows 10 people overnight, while the price is for a group of up to 8. If your group is larger than the rate covers, ask about the extra charge before you book.

Families with children do well on the big catamarans. The 2007 Power Catamaran 70 sleeps 10 adults and 4 children in six cabins, Gani sleeps 10 adults and 2 children. Siam Princess 70 has a full-beam master cabin that fits a family of four, plus a cabin with four bunk beds.

Prices, from a sailing yacht to a superyacht

The cheapest overnight stay in the catalog is on the Hanse 43 sailing yacht: 70,000 THB for 2 days and 1 night from June to October and 90,000 THB from November to May, priced for 1-4 guests with breakfast, lunch and dinner. Next comes the Mufasa catamaran with two outboard engines: 24 hours for up to 8 guests cost 89,700 THB from 1 May to 31 October, 102,350 THB from 16 January to 30 April and 113,850 THB from 1 November to 15 January. Lunch is not included on Mufasa.

A group of 6-8 usually fits into 100,000-160,000 THB. Lagoon 45 costs 99,900, 110,900 and 138,900 THB (June to October, November to May, 15 December to 15 January), with overnight meals charged at cost. Classic 86 costs 100,000 THB all year and 120,000 from 15 December to 15 January, up to 6 guests, full board. Nautitech 40 costs 100,000, 120,000 and 140,000 THB, up to 6 guests, full board. Bali 40 costs 100,000, 140,000 and 180,000 THB without meals. On the 24-hour catamarans Buli runs 112,000-128,000 THB for 6 guests, Yati 132,000-148,000 for 6 and Zim 142,000-158,000 for 8.

For larger groups, Siam Princess 70 costs 150,000, 170,000 and 190,000 THB for 2 days and 1 night (May to October, November to April, 20 December to 20 January) for up to 12 guests with breakfast, lunch and dinner. Power Catamaran 70 costs 180,000 THB for 24 hours from May to October and 195,000 THB from November to April, Gani 180,000 and 195,000 THB. The sailing 2023 Lagoon 52 for 8 guests costs 199,000 THB for one night in any season, food included.

Luxury motor yachts for 6-8 guests start at 230,000 THB for 2 days and 1 night on the Azimut 55, 280,000 on the Princess 65 Oceana, 300,000 on the Riva 70 and 340,000 on the Tachou 76. Among superyachts, Vanora 170 takes up to 22 guests for 24 hours at 650,000 THB all year, Sunseeker 90 Major Affair starts at 699,000 THB for 2 days and 1 night, Camara C 105 at 733,000 and Westport 130 at 900,000 for 32 hours. A week on the Sunreef Eco 60 sailing catamaran costs 1,467,000, 1,800,000 and 1,967,000 THB across its three periods.

What it comes to per person

Divide the price only by the number of guests it covers. Mufasa for 8 comes to about 11,200 THB each from May to October and about 12,800 THB from 16 January to 30 April, lunch extra. Lagoon 45 for 8 from November to May is about 13,900 THB each plus meals. Siam Princess 70 for 12 from November to April is about 14,200 THB each, and that already includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Classic 86 for 6 works out at about 16,700 THB each, Nautitech 40 from November to April at exactly 20,000, Hanse 43 for four from November to May at 22,500 THB. Gani and Power Catamaran 70 cost 195,000 THB in the high season for 10 adults, which is 19,500 THB per adult, with the children staying within the same price. Vanora 170 for 22 guests is about 29,500 THB each, but food and 7% VAT are added on top.

A day trip on the same boats is cheaper, yet a night aboard costs less than two days. Classic 86 costs 75,000 THB for 8 hours and 100,000 for 2 days and 1 night. Hanse 43 costs 49,000 for a day from November to May and 90,000 with a night. If you are not sure you need a private boat at all, compare it with group tours in our yacht or group tour breakdown.

Longer cruises cost less per night

On multi-day charters the nightly rate drops noticeably. The 2023 Lagoon 52 costs 199,000 THB for one night, 289,000 for two and 559,000 for five. Over five nights that is 111,800 THB a night for the boat, or about 14,000 THB per person per night with 8 guests. Nautitech 40 from May to October costs 100,000 THB for one night and 300,000 for five, so 60,000 a night.

Siam Princess 70 for 7 days and 6 nights from November to April costs 595,000 THB. That is about 99,000 THB a night and about 8,300 THB per person per night with 12 guests aboard, one of the best full-board rates in the catalog for a big family or a group of friends.

Weekly superyacht charters work differently. On the Sunreef Eco 60 you also pay an APA on top of the charter price, a 25% advance for food, fuel, marinas and park fees; at the end you get a statement and the unused balance comes back. Heysea 139 adds a 25% APA and 15% tax on charters of two nights or more, and Heesen 129 also charges voyage expenses and tax on top.

What is included, what is extra, where you go

Full board (breakfast, lunch and dinner) on an overnight trip is included on Classic 86, Hanse 43, Nautitech 40, Siam Princess 70, Princess 65 Oceana and Azimut 55, and the 2023 Lagoon 52 includes food and snacks. Meals are not included on Lagoon 45, Bali 40, Vanora 170 and some luxury yachts such as Monte Carlo 86. Yati, Buli and Gani include a Thai barbecue lunch and beer, 6 cans per adult, while on Zim and Mufasa lunch is ordered separately. The listings for these five boats say nothing about dinner and breakfast, so confirm that before you pay.

National park fees are extra almost everywhere. There are exceptions: Vanora 170 and Westport 130, for example, include them. Long routes on Yati, Buli, Zim and Gani carry a fuel surcharge: Phi Phi and Racha Yai add 25,000 THB, Racha Noi 28,000, Hong Krabi 13,000. Mufasa adds 28,750 THB for Phi Phi, Racha and Krabi. The marina transfer is not always included: the 2023 Lagoon 52 and Power Catamaran 70 include a taxi, Hanse 43 and Bali 40 do not.

The exact overnight route is not spelled out in the listings and is agreed when you book. The same boats' day routes give a good idea: Phang Nga Bay with James Bond Island, the Khai islands, Maiton, Racha, Hong Krabi and Phi Phi. For Phi Phi, some boats do not offer a day trip at all and only go there with a night aboard. Our guide to Phi Phi by yacht or speedboat shows what those routes look like by day.

How to choose and what to check before paying

Start with the number of people who will sleep aboard, not the number joining for the day. For 2-4 people Hanse 43 or Grand Banks 53 Sambuca is enough; for 6 look at Classic 86, Nautitech 40, Bali 40, Buli or Yati; for 8 at Lagoon 45, Mufasa, Zim or Lagoon 52. Groups of 10-14 should look at Siam Princess 70, Gani and Power Catamaran 70, and for 15-22 people only Vanora 170 works.

Then pick the type of boat. Sailing catamarans are slow, about 7-8 knots, but give you plenty of space and a quiet ride. Motor boats reach the distant islands faster. There is a detailed comparison in our guide to sailing catamaran, power catamaran or motor yacht.

Before paying, check five things. One: how many guests the overnight rate covers and what each extra guest costs. Two: the format, 24 hours, 2 days and 1 night or 32 hours, and the start and finish time. Three: whether dinner and breakfast are included. Four: whether your route carries a fuel surcharge and who pays the park fees. Five: which price period your dates fall into, because mid-December to mid-January is more expensive. On Bali 40 the gap reaches 80%: 100,000 THB in the low season against 180,000 over New Year. The booking deposit in the catalog is 5,000 THB.
