Muay Thai Training in Phuket: Price, Gear, and Injury Coverage

A package usually beats drop-in, but not always

An unlimited monthly pass is cheaper per session, but only pays off if you actually train 15+ times a month. For a 1-2 week trip, a 10-session package is almost always the better deal than a monthly unlimited.

Ask the gym for both the drop-in price and the package price β€” sometimes the difference is smaller than expected, and the unlimited pass isn't worth the premium.

Gear: bring your own or rent

Most gyms rent gloves and pads for a small fee or include them with the session. Hand wraps and a mouthguard are personal items for hygiene reasons β€” bring your own rather than using shared ones.

Injuries and insurance

Muay thai and boxing are contact sports with a real injury risk, especially during sparring. Many standard travel insurance policies explicitly exclude "contact combat sports" from coverage β€” check your policy's wording before you step into a sparring session, not after an injury.

A safer way to book

Booking through a catalog with a deposit model locks in the package price and session terms in advance, before paying the full amount on-site.
